The Bay County Sheriff’s Office responded to a business at 6908 Thomas Drive on September 11, 2016, at 4:51 am, in response to a 911 call reporting a stabbing at the drinking establishment.
Deputies arrived to find the victim stabbed in the abdomen. The bartender reported the suspect was Andrew Olson and that he had fled the scene in a dark blue, older model Honda, 4-door. EMS responded and the victim was transported to a local hospital.
Another BCSO deputy located the suspect’s vehicle within minutes on 23 rd Street and Highway 390. Andrew Olson was stopped and the bartender brought to the scene to positively identify the suspect as the one responsible for the stabbing.
BCSO Criminal Investigations was called out and after interviews were done, investigators believe that the victim and the suspect, the only two people in the bar with the bartender at the time, got into a physical altercation and Andrew Olson produced a knife and stabbed the victim in the left side of his abdomen. The victim grabbed the suspect’s hands and fought to keep from being stabbed in the face. The bartender came around the bar to help the victim and was able to get the knife from Olson. It was then that Olson fled and the bartender called 911.
The victim initially decided not to press charges, but then changed his mind and Olson, age 38, of 1340 Reedy Road, Panama City Beach, was arrested on September 12, 2016, and charged with Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon.
