This reporter is in need of healthcare.  Despite numerous attempts and failures since October 3, 2013 he has been unable to find out the results of his application status and eligibility.

Attempts to create an account, to log on, to fill out an application for benefits, and to find out the eligibility results of the application have resulted in repeated problems with the www.healthcare.gov website.

At the time of this story, October 7, 2013, the following message was posted on the site.

HealthCare.Gov System Down on October 7, 2013 10:15 PM CDT

Before the system supposedly went down this reporter tried to log on the website which presents the following page initially:

www.healthcare.gov Main Page

After clicking on the “Log in” link and entering a username and password the following page appeared.

October 7, 2013 Log In Page With Eligibility Notification and Error Message

However, again, there was no link for this reporter to click on to determine what his eligibility was.

This reporter used the “Chat” feature to contact customer support and found no solution.  This is the text of the chat session.

Good evening. How can I help you?
[9:40:31 pm]: CALLER
When I log on I get the message:

Regular Notification: You have a notice available about your Marketplace eligibility..

It also displays a large red box that says “Unexpected Error” and “Error ID: but nothing else.

But there is no link to get to the “NOTICE” . How do I go to find a link to go to the “NOTICE” to determine my marketplace eligibility???
[9:45:01 pm]: Dale
I apologize for the inconvenience.
[9:45:20 pm]: Dale
Thank you for your question today. It will take me just a moment to review and respond to your question.
[9:45:30 pm]: Dale
Are you looking for information about health insurance in the state you live in, or a different state?
[9:47:02 pm]: CALLER
I’m looking for the eligibility status of the application that I’ve already filed with healthcare.gov. Is this not a clear question on my part. I am also a reporter doing a story on the ability of chat personnel to respond to problems with the website. Can you answer my question or not?
[9:47:49 pm]: CALLER
I report for www.baycommunitynews.com
[9:48:17 pm]: Dale
Thank you for your patience.
[9:48:46 pm]: CALLER
Thank you, but the public’s patience is running thin…
[9:49:15 pm]: Dale
Due to the nature of your question, I am going to refer your issue to an Advanced Resolution Center specialist, who will research it and call you back within two business days.
[9:49:41 pm]: CALLER
Please answer my question, can I get access to my application eligibility or not?
[9:50:30 pm]: Dale
Thanks for your interest in the Health Insurance Marketplace. We have a lot of visitors trying to use our website right now. That is causing some glitches for some people trying to create accounts or log in. Keep trying, and thanks for your patience. You might have better success during off-peak hours, like later at night or early in the morning. We’ll continue working to improve the site so you can get covered
[9:50:51 pm]: CALLER
No, I do not want to be referred to ARC!!! I want to know if you have been trained to answer these questions or not?
[9:51:53 pm]: Dale
I do apologize but as I said before due to the nature of your question, I am going to refer your issue to an Advanced Resolution Center specialist, who will research it and call you back within two business days.
[9:52:28 pm]: CALLER
I was referred to ARC on October 3, 2013 and they left a message for me to call back to the 800 number. When you call that number there is NO choice to get transferred to ARC. I’d appreciate that you answer my questions above.
[9:53:40 pm]: Dale
I apologize but I am unable to assist you. ARC can assist you.
[9:54:07 pm]: CALLER
But you can’t? Is that correct?
[9:54:40 pm]: Dale
I do apologize but as I said before due to the nature of your question, I am going to refer your issue to an Advanced Resolution Center specialist, who will research it and call you back within two business days.
[9:54:47 pm]: CALLER
Also, where are you located?
[9:55:49 pm]: Dale
I have directed you to where your question can be answered. At this point I will have to disconnect.
[9:56:16 pm]: CALLER
That is not acceptable. Where are you located?
[9:56:24 pm]: Dale
Thank you for contacting Health Insurance Marketplace Live Chat. We are here to help you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
[9:56:35 pm]: ‘Dale’ has left the chat session.
[9:56:37 pm]: Your chat session is over. Thanks for contacting us, and we hope we’ve answered your questions. Have a great day.
[9:56:37 pm]: 10/7/2013

” Have a great day.”  How can the citizens of this country have a great day when a major program such as the Affordable Healthcare Act (aka Obamacare) cannot implement the law through computer software development that simply does not work?

The support personnel at the CHAT support center will not even answer the question as to where they are located as shown above.

This reporter is a registered, moderate Republican that supports the Affordable Health Care act if it is properly implemented.  However, the implementation to date has failed, at least for this reporter.

How long will the public have to wait to see www. healthcare.gov properly implemented and fixed?  Apologies are well intended, but when will the public see results and corrections to the numerous problems with www.healthcare.gov?

The failure of www.healthcare.gov so far only adds fuel to the fire of Republican dissent.
