On Sunday, September 25, 2016 at approximately 12:50 PM, Miss Karen Hosea (75 YOA) was at the Happy Gas Station at 23 rd St. and Lisenby Ave. When she concluded her business in the store she exited and entered her car. As soon as she closed the door a tall white male approx.6’2″ approached her vehicle.
The suspect forcibly opened the drivers side door and reached across Miss Hosea to grab her purse that was between her leg and the console. She grabbed the purse and attempted to pull it away from the male and he over powered her and in the process Miss Hosea received a cut on her hand.
In the morning of September 29, 2016 a Bay County Sheriff’s Office patrol unit observed a vehicle that matched the one the suspect drove off in on Sept. 25 th. The Deputy pulled the car over at Michigan Ave. and Burnham Rd. The Deputies approached the driver and he matched the description Miss Hosea gave after the incident.
The driver was identified as Richard Eugene Bristow (DOB 10/31/1961) from Fountain. Bristow was detained and taken to the Bay County Sheriff’s Office where he was interviewed and admitted committing the offense. Bristow was transported to the Bay County Jail and charged with Robbery by Sudden Snatching W/O a handgun.
