Drowning On Panama City Beach

On July 2, 2012, officers from the Panama City Beach Police Department responded to a drowning located beach-side behind Hooters on Front Beach Road.

On scene, officers were notified that the victim, Mr. Tainarien Elliott, from New Albany, Mississippi, had entered the water to save another friend of his.   While in the water he began to struggle and he himself got caught in the rip current.

At the time, Mr. Elliott could not be located and a collaborated search was conducted between the Panama City Beach Police Department, the Bay County Sheriff’s Office, and the U.S. coast Guard.

At about 7:30 a.m., on July 4, 2012, Mr. Elliott was recovered along the shoreline, in the area of 13000 block of Oleander Drive, behind Beach Access 47.  The Medical Examiner’s Office took jurisdiction.
