Desire For A Pack Of Cigarettes Leads To Jail

Bay County Sheriff’s Office investigators have arrested a man they believe responsible for several attempted burglaries in Bay County. Ryan Colvin, age 27, was taken into custody today.

On February 4, 2018, at about 5:30 am, the alarm went off at the Dollar General on 15th Street. About ten minutes later, an alarm went off at the Shell Gas Station on 15th Street. Managers at both businesses arrived to find that someone had thrown a large rock shattering a glass window. However, nothing had been stolen.

BCSO Criminal investigators responded and reviewed video of one incident. The video revealed a white male throwing a fist-sized rock through a glass window and running off. A review of another video of a similar incident revealed there were actually two white males involved and they were riding bicycles.

One investigator recognized one of the white males and made contact with him. The man stated he had been present when Ryan Colvin had thrown the rock and shattered the glass.

Contact was made with Ryan Colvin who was interviewed. Colvin stated he was responsible for throwing the rocks and had intended to steal cigarettes and snacks, but was prevented when the alarms sounded.

Colvin, of 2901 Game Farm Road, was charged with two counts of Attempted Burglary and two counts of Felony Criminal Mischief. He was taken to the Bay County Jail.
